Coronavirus update: Shire cases see a further emergence of small clusters

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 1525 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 5.2 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 365 cases and NHS Lothian 246 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 91 cases while NHS Highland recorded 83 cases.

In the seven days to August 9 there were 338 new cases in Aberdeenshire (129.6 per 100,000), 251 in Aberdeen City (109.6 per 100,000) and in Moray 77 (80.5 per 100,000).

Eight new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases are still centred mainly on Fraserburgh, in particular the harbour area but new clusters have emerged in Kemnay and Turriff with Peterhead and now Macduff also showing an increase.

To date in Scotland more than 4,039,226 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,393,900 people have received their second dose.
