Coronavirus update: Positive tests see a further rise

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 9910 positive cases of coronavirus.

As of yesterday this figure includes cases identified using either a first LFD (lateral flow device) or PCR (polymerase chain reaction) positive test

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Glasgow recorded 1433 cases and NHS Lothian 1067 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 583 cases while NHS Highland recorded 290.

In the seven days to January 11, Aberdeenshire saw 2286 cases (876.6 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 2439 (1064.8 per 100,000) and Moray 1020 (1065.7 per 100,000).

41 new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,396,802 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 4,060,859 people have received their second dose.

A further 3,171,289 have received a third dose or booster.
