Coronavirus update: No let up in cases around Fraserburgh as NHS Highland also sees a considerable rise

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 1386 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 6.3 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 281 cases and NHS Lanarkshire 285 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 96 cases while NHS Highland recorded 115 cases.

In the seven days to August 3 there were 289 new cases in Aberdeenshire (110.8 per 100,000), 280 in Aberdeen City (122.2 per 100,000) and in Moray 74 (77.7 per 100,000).

Nine new deaths has been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

In Aberdeenshire the majority of cases are still predominantly centred around Fraserburgh at present but a new rise in cases has started around the Logie-Durno and Chapel of Garioch area outside Inverurie while NHS Highland is seeing a large increase driven by cases predominantly in Fort William and to a lesser extent in Inverness.

To date in Scotland more than 4,022,914 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,305,325 people have received their second dose.
