Coronavirus update: NHS Grampian sees no let up in Elgin cases

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 168 positive cases which equates to 1.6 per cent of those tested overall.

NHS Greater Glasgow saw 49 cases and NHS Lanarkshire 28 and NHS Lothian 17.

NHS Grampian reported 20 new cases while NHS Highland recorded four cases.

In the seven days to May 7 there were 22 new cases in Aberdeenshire (8.4 per 100,000), 44 in Aberdeen City (19.2 per 100,000) and 90 in Moray (93.9 per 100,000).

Case numbers in Moray continue to be firmly centred on Elgin and there is growing concern that the area may not see a reduction in lockdown restrictions which are due to be announced this week.

No deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland over 2,909,156 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and over 1,485,290 people have received their second dose.
