Coronavirus update: NHS Grampian sees nearly 600 cases in one day

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 6815 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 11.1 per cent of those tested overall

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1902 cases and NHS Lothian 1002 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 597 cases (586 yesterday) while NHS Highland recorded 386 cases.

In the seven days to September 7, Aberdeenshire saw 1639 cases (628.5 per 100,000), Aberdeen City 1306 (570.2 per 100,000) and Moray 236 (246.4 per 100,000).

Oldmeldrum, Kintore, Peterhead and Longside have broken the 60 cases in a week level meaning that between just those four areas alone they have an overall number of cases higher that the whole of Morayshire.

Areas including Ythise near Ellon and Rosehearty are also now following close behind as cases escalate.

22 new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,135,329 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,762,367 people have received their second dose.
