Coronavirus update: National case total rises jump again

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 3367 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 9.0 per cent of those tested overall.

This compares to 2538 in the previous 24 hours and 1815 the day before

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1023 (704yesterday) cases and NHS Lothian 577(429) cases.

NHS Grampian saw 137(128)) cases while NHS Highland recorded 167 (119) cases.

In the seven days to August 16 there were 303 new cases in Aberdeenshire (116.2 per 100,000), 272 in Aberdeen City (118.7 per 100,000) and in Moray 84 (87.8 per 100,000).

Seven new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases which have been focused on Fraserburgh have remained static at present with rises now being seen in nearby Peterhead and Longside.

To date in Scotland more than 4,068,806 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,512,073 people have received their second dose.
