Coronavirus update: National case numbers rise by over a third

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 2969 (2167 in the previous 24 hours) positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 7.3 per cent of those tested overall.

In the last seven days NHS Greater Glasgow saw cases 613 (504), NHS Tayside 352 (251) and NHS Lothian 830 (581).

NHS Grampian saw 175 (122) new cases while NHS Highland recorded 83 (44) new cases.

In the seven days to June 19 there were 190 new cases in Aberdeenshire (72.7 per 100,000), 326 in Aberdeen City (142.6 per 100,000) and 18 in Moray (18.8 per 100,000).

The largest number of cases in Aberdeenshire continue to be focused on Westhill and Elrick with a rise also being seen in Kemnay.

Five new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 3,681,820 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 2,617,450 people have received their second dose.
