Coronavirus update: Daily cases figures affected by backlog of processing

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 7561 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 23.2 per cent of those tested.

This is a considerable drop from 12,602 yesterday and is indicative of the continued issue around the backlog in test processing.

Area specific and health board figures are not available over weekends.

Public Health Scotland stopped the publication of daily totals of Omicron variants and break down by NHS Board.

This means that Scotland as a whole does not have a publicly available figure for cases after January 4 and will these will not be updated again till January 11.

Three new deaths were recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

To date in Scotland more than 4,391,558 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 4,045,667 people have received their second dose.

A further 3,101,096 have received a third dose or booster.
