Coronavirus update: Central Belt increases continue to drive up overall case levels

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 1815 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 10.6 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 483 cases and NHS Lothian 351 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 98 cases while NHS Highland recorded 82 cases.

In the seven days to August 14 there were 283 new cases in Aberdeenshire (108.5 per 100,000), 258 in Aberdeen City (112.6 per 100,000) and in Moray 85 (88.8 per 100,000).

Nine new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases which have been focused on Fraserburgh continue to show signs of decline with small clusters elsewhere in Aberdeenshire also remaining mostly static for case numbers at present but are begining to show a wider geographical spread in the past few days.

To date in Scotland more than 4,061,687 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,482,188 people have received their second dose.
