Coronavirus update: Central Belt cases driving up national totals

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 1567 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 9.6 per cent of those tested overall.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 390 cases and NHS Lothian 266 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 97 cases while NHS Highland recorded 71 cases.

In the seven days to August 12 there were 282 new cases in Aberdeenshire (108.1 per 100,000), 238 in Aberdeen City (103.9 per 100,000) and in Moray 81 (84.6 per 100,000).

No new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases which were centred on Fraserburgh continue to show signs of decline with small clusters elsewhere in Aberdeenshire also remaining static at present.

To date in Scotland more than 4,058,428 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,467,817 people have received their second dose.
