Coronavirus update: Case remain at high levels across the country

In Scotland in the last 24 hours there have been a total of 5858 positive cases of coronavirus which equates to 14.2 per cent of those tested overal

This compares to 6835 in the previous 24 hours, a record high for the daily total.

Amongst these newly reported cases NHS Greater Glasgow recorded 1870 cases and NHS Lanarkshire 1188 cases.

NHS Grampian saw 310 cases while NHS Highland recorded 241 cases.

In the seven days to August 25 there were 716 new cases in Aberdeenshire (274.6 per 100,000) 708 in Aberdeen City (309.1 per 100,000) and in Moray 147 (153.6 per 100,000).

Eight new deaths have been recorded in Scotland with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Cases are now endemic across the whole of the north-east and continue to rise with many areas now recording three of four cases per day.

To date in Scotland more than 4,098,078 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and over 3,640,865 people have received their second dose.
