Consultation events start in Aberdeenshire for Offshore Wind Farm and SSEN powerline developments

Broadshore Offshore Wind are holding a series of public consultation events this coming week in the Banff and Buchan area to provide an opportunity to find out more about the projects and the development areas under consideration for their offshore project.

This will include the Broadshore Hub landfall site, onshore cable corridors and onshore substations.

Events will run as follows -

Monday 5; 3pm – 8pm, Crimond Community Hub.

Tuesday 6; 12pm – 8pm, Fraserburgh Golf Club.

Wednesday 7; 12pm – 8pm, Longside Football Social Club.

Thursday 8; 12pm – 8pm, Peterhead Football Club.

Friday 9; 10am – 1pm, MACBI Community Hub, Mintlaw.

The power from the offshore wind farms is proposed to come ashore via underground cabling and connect to the National Electricity Transmission System via new substations in the vicinity of Peterhead.

A virtual consultation room will also be available online between Monday 5 and Friday 9 February (inclusive) and can be accessed at bellrockwind.co.uk and broadshorewind.co.uk

Along with the offshore development SSEN plans several new north-east substations to its power line upgrade which will see a new 400kV line wind its way across the northern Aberdeenshire landscape.

The first of these sees a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) with accompanying covering letter and plan outlining a proposed development site submitted to Aberdeenshire Council for a 400kV substation and associated infrastructure on land At Mains Of Greens near Cuminestown.

As part of the pre-application process, consultation events will be held as follows -

Pre-Application Consultation Event 1 - Cuminestown, February 27 at Cuminestown Community Hall, Cuminestown between 2pm and 7pm.

New Deer, February 29 at New Deer Public Hall, Fordyce Terrace, New Deer between 2pm and 7pm.

Pre-Application Consultation Event 2 - Cuminestown, May 21 at Cuminestown Community Hall, Cuminestown between 2pm and 7pm.

New Deer, May 23 at New Deer Public Hall, Fordyce Terrace, New Deer, between 2pm and 7pm.
