Community warm spaces available in Moray for those struggling in winter weather

COMMUNITY warm spaces have been set up across Moray for people struggling due to the winter weather.

With freezing temperatures expected to continue over the next few days, Moray Citizens Advice Bureau have released a list of warm spaces available to the local community and have encouraged people to visit the spaces for heat and some company if they are struggling to stay warm.

Community warm spaces have been set up in Elgin, Forres, Lossiemouth, Dufftown, Keith and Buckie and some drop-ins are also offering food, hot drinks and games for those who attend.

A list of all Moray Warm Spaces are below:

Elgin

Elgin Town Hall: Open every Tuesday from 3.30pm - 5.30pm until Christmas. Offering free tea and coffee and board games.

Dr Gray's Hospital Canteen: Open from 1.30pm - 4pm on Monday per month, December 19, January 16, February 13 and March 13.

Elgin Baptist Church, Reidhaven Street: Open Wednesday and Friday from 12pm - 4pm. Offering soup and hot drinks.

Elgin Library: Open Monday to Friday from 10am - 8pm and Saturday's from 10am - 4pm. Offering access to books, free WiFi, board games for young and old, free computers, e-books and magazines.

Spynie Kirk: Open Thursday from 10am - 4pm.

Forres

Forres Town Hall: Open every Tuesday until Christmas. Offering free hot drinks and card games.

St Leonard's Church: Open on Tuesday and Friday from 1.30pm - 4pm.

Forres Baptist Church, Clovenside Chapel: Open every Tuesday from 10am - 12pm. Offering free drinks and snacks, a food pantry and toys for children to play with.

Lossiemouth

Catch 79, Seafood Bistro, Clifton Road: Open every Sunday from 12pm - 3pm and 5pm - 10pm. Offering hot drinks and soup.

Lossie Fire Station: Open every Thursday from 2.30pm - 4pm. Offering hot drinks.

Lossiemouth Baptist Church: Open every Wednesday from 4pm - 8pm. Offering hot meals and board games for children and adults.

Buckie

The Hub, Buckie Area Forum on East Church Street: Open every Tuesday from 10am - 4pm. Offering free hot food, hot drinks and information on local services and how to access them.

Salvation Army: Open on Wednesday from 11.30am - 3pm. Free hot food and drinks and the chance for people to learn new skills.

Dufftown

Royal British Legion: Open on Wednesday from 10am - 3pm.

Keith

Keith North Church: Open on Tuesday from 11:30am - 1:30pm. Offering soup and sweet, hot drinks and heating, pay what you can donations are accepted but are not essential.

For those who may be alone on Christmas, there is also a Moray Community Christmas taking place at Grant Hall in Rothes on Christmas day. Places are still open for the Christmas dinner and people can call 07742 810852 to find out more.
