With the group having gad to cancel their weekly Tuesday night meetings before lockdown started, initially the members of the group sent in songs to their Facebook page to keep locals entertained.

With some restrictions still in place, just recently Edna Anderson the chairperson of the group decided to have weekly Zoom meetings with the local community.

With what started off as a weekly Zoom quiz, Edna wondered if her idea to get more of the public to join her meetings to sing along would work. She said: “I have been keeping our Tuesday nights going, initially it was just members sending in their favourite tunes and then I would play them!

“I think we are into our fourth or fifth zoom meeting and I had been doing a zoom quiz weekly and I wondered if I'd try a sing song.

“The format is easy, I lead the singing and everyone else mutes, then sings along in the privacy of there own home.

“The meeting it just for 40 minutes, using the free zoom option.

“I'd love a few more people joining in, I put on our Facebook page the list of songs that we will be singing"

Turriff Community Singers are encouraging the public to join more of their meetings to keep everyone entertained during the easing of restrictions.

Edna added: “I aim to remain doing zoom sing alongside until we can get back to our regular Tuesdays night meeting, at the royal oak, Turriff”.

The meeting can be joined online with the Zoom Meeting id - 763 1481 95 31 (limited to 40 mins) and password -hj2F6V (mixed lower and capitals).
