Gardenstown locals came together recently for their annual Memory Walk, raising £636 to support people living with dementia in the local area.

Setting off from Eli’s Coffee, Cake And Craft Shop, 32 walkers embarked on a journey to the end of Crovie and back to support people living with dementia and to remember loved ones.

Along the way, walkers were treated to a talk on Gardenstown and Crovie’s history by John from the local Heritage Centre, which opened their doors as a place of remembrance for participants.

Walkers were rewarded for their efforts with refreshments and cakes generously provided by Eli’s owner Elinor Grieve, who regularly donates all tips from her cafe to the charity.

Every year hundreds of people across Scotland take part in the event which is in aid of the charity Alzheimer Scotland.

Memory Walk organiser and Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Advisor Laura Crockatt said “This amount of fundraising is a great achievement, particularly for this small area.

"It’s only with the help of our incredible supporters that we can continue to be there for people living with dementia and their families.

"We were delighted to see such a good turn out and would like to thank all involved.”
