Community group fundraiser supports cancer charity

The Banff-based Can Be OK group has raised £1700 for charity.

It was set up in the area help those who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families.

Isabel McArthur formed the group after she was diagnosed with breast cancer and realised there must be others in the community who needed assistance.

It started with a few friends has now grown to a large number of members.

It runs it fortnightly sessions in The Vinery on Monday evenings from 6.30pm-8.30pm and Thursday mornings from 10am-midday.

The group held a fundraising coffee morning which raised £1700, with £1600 being donated to Cancer Research UK and £100 to The Vinery.

A cheque presentation was held in the Banff community venue where the money was presented to John McLennan who is a relationship manager for Cancer Research UK.

Isabel said: "The money raised will be used in Scotland. If anyone thinks they maybe interested in joining our group please get in touch."
