Communities urged to apply for SSEN resilience funding

Gordon MP Richard Thomson has urged constituency groups to consider whether they might benefit from grant funding from the Scottish and Southern Energy Networks 2023 Resilient Communities Fund.

The fund is now open to applications in the north of Scotland, with £1 million awarded to 69 projects during 2022 to help support communities to become more resilient.

The fund helps communities to build resilience for emergency events and protect the welfare of vulnerable community members.

Mr Thomson said: “The effects of Storm Arwen and other severe weather episodes in recent years have brought into sharp focus the issue of communities being resilient in times of extremis.

“A lot of good work has been done by local communities already but there is always more that can be done as technology and needs evolve.

"I’d therefore commend the SSEN Resilient Communities Fund which will have £157,000 available to eligible communities, councils and charities in grants ranging from £1000 to £10,000 or, in exceptional cases, involving multi-community applications, funding up to a maximum of £40,000 can be considered.”
