A Flood Alert has been issued for Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City by SEPA this afternoon.
Due to a combination of surge and strong wind, there is a risk of flooding from waves and spray overtopping to low lying areas of the coast, from Friday evening until Sunday morning.
At the same time a yellow warning for snow and ice remains in place inland from Friday evening through to Saturday on high ground with most of the snow accumulations expected to be above 200-300 m elevation.
Rain and hill snow persisting across north and east Scotland. Elsewhere, patchy cloudy with some showers or longer spells of rain.
Saturday - Rain and some snow persisting in the far north, mostly over higher ground. Occasional brighter interludes in the south once any fog clears, with showers, these mostly in the west.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Often cloudy through the period with showers or longer spells of rain. Some bright or sunny intervals developing, most likely on Tuesday. Breezy along the coasts with temperatures around average.
