The CO-OP store at Burghmuir, Inverurie held a big payout for local community groups on Friday morning.

A part of a scheme which is voted for by members of the co-op, annual nominations are made by locals for three recipient charities or groups, with funds raised by a dividend from individuals purchases in store.

Charities benefitting were Clan Cancer Support who received £1080, Ury Riverside Park Association who received £862 and Gordon Riding for the Disabled who received £982.

Representatives from the charities including Martin Auld and Rod Adams of the park association joined co-op team leader Greg Taylor and Alana Welsh, Clan’s community development co-ordinator for the handover.

Elsewhere other stores also handed over their donations with the Oldmeldrum and Pitmedden stores joining forces to hand over an impressive £6763 which was split with £2090 to Haddo Childrens Theatre £2523 to Woodrecyclability and the final £2150 to Ellon based mental health charity Pawpalz.

Ellon’s branch handed over £3243 which was split with £1198 to Ellon Civic Pride, £1069 to Friends of Ellon Cemetery and £966 to Ellon Academy Memorial Community Gardens.
