FRIENDS of Jubilee Hospital paid a visit to its Rothieden Unit to hand out Christmas goodies.
On Wednesday, December 21, presents were handed over to the eight patients currently in the hospital.
Gifts included toiletries, supplied by Largue Pharmacy, Christmas boxes filled with handmade treats crafted by Morag for the patients to share with their families and Christmas cards, printed for Friends of Jubilee by Digital Croft.
There were warm cashmere bedsocks for each patient to wear once they move from Rothieden to a temporary unit.
That’s expected to happen in February, when work on the unit’s roof begins, and last for a few months.
The bedsocks were gifted to the patients by Johnstons of Elgin.
There was also an amazing cake baked by well known cake maker, Evelyn Muir, for all the staff.
The group added that they are indebted to Evelyn for her very generous donation.
In addition, the group was joined by two members of the esteemed Aurora Choir, Martina Munro and Frances Irvine, who led them in song through the main corridor of Rothieden.
Fiona Murray, chairperson of Friends of Jubilee Hospital, said: “It was very pleasant that we could, at last, meet with the patients after the long Covid period, and enjoy some chat.
“The Friends look forward to supporting the hospital and, in particular, Rothieden in 2023, providing vital equipment and giving financial support for upcoming projects.
“Last year we gave financial support to the new Vaccination Centre to the tune of almost £10,000.
“We are so fortunate in Huntly having a wonderful community hospital with simply the best, most caring staff who at all times have the interests of the patients first and foremost.
“We are indebted to them.”
Fiona added her thanks to all that helped make the day possible, including those who provided gifts and attended.
She also thanked David Black for coming out on a chilly morning to take photographs of the visit.
