Child dies after tragic Balmedie church car park incident

Road Policing officers in Aberdeenshire are carrying out enquiries into a fatal crash involving a one-year-old child within the car park of a church in Balmedie.

The incident took place on Eigie Road, around 7.45pm on Wednesday evening and .involved a Land Rover and a one-year-old female child. The child was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, however was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. The 40-year-old man driving the car was uninjured.

Inspector Scott Deans, from Roads Policing, said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this tragic incident. Our investigation into the circumstances remain ongoing and we’d like to thank the wider Balmedie community for their patience and understanding as officers carry out their enquiries in the area. Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3390 of 15 May, 2024.”

In an statement provided by the Plymouth Brethern Church this afternoon on behalf of the child’s parents Holly and Glenn it said: “We can confirm that our beautiful daughter Ivy Mae passed away following a tragic accident last evening after our regular church gathering in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire. We are absolutely devasted and ask that our privacy is respected at this challenging time. We value all the prayers and messages of sympathy and support we have received from the local community. The emergency services tireless work and support is greatly appreciated. We are absolutely devasted and ask that our privacy is respected at this challenging time.”
