Charlie House is hosting Out and About drop-in sessions throughout Aberdeenshire and Moray to increase awareness and access to information for its services, bringing support closer to families.

The charity was founded in 2011 with the goal of improving quality of life for babies, children and young people in the north-east of Scotland who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and to provide support for them and their families.

The Charlie House team will be heading out to Inverurie and Elgin.

Aimed at those who have children with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, allied professionals in health, education and social work sectors, local businesses and community organisations, or anyone passionate about supporting Charlie House, these free-of-charge sessions will be held at accessible locations such as libraries or community hubs in the heart of local towns.

The first planned event is taking place at Inverurie Town Hall on Friday, June 9 with visitors invited to attend anytime between 12pm until 5pm, and the following event will take place at Elgin Library on Thursday, June 29 from 12.30pm until 6pm, with more sessions planned in the coming months.

At each informal session, the public will have a chance to meet the Charlie House team in a welcoming and relaxed environment, learn more about the support the charity offers and find out how to take part in accessible activities, as well as sign up to volunteer and discover ways to get involved with fundraising.

Leigh Ryrie, children and family support manager at Charlie House said: “The Charlie House team is excited to bring these informal sessions to parts of the north-east and we will have various team representatives available so we can direct individuals to the best person for information.

“For those interested in family support services and group activities, we will have our services team on hand, whereas for those keen to help support our cause, our volunteer and fundraising teams will be there to discuss suitable opportunities.

“Access to information is often the first step in families getting the support they need. Every single situation is different, so by visiting these communities, we’re able to explain first-hand how we can help families with their unique circumstances.”

Throughout the year, the Charlie House team will be on the road to reach even more communities.
