Peterhead United FC raise over £5000 for Clan Cancer Support with match marathon

Peterhead United FC are thrilled to have raised over £5500 with their latest charity challenge.

The team faced local opponents every day for a week in a bid to raise money for Clan Cancer Support, and were thrilled to discover their final total came in at £5520.77 for the charity.

The matches were:

  • Peterhead United 0 - Maud 8
  • Peterhead United 0 - Buchanhaven Hearts 8
  • Peterhead United 12 - Buchan Ladies 0
  • Fraserburgh FC 4 - Peterhead United 3
  • Haven 6 - Peterhead United 2
  • Mormond 5 - Peterhead United 0
  • Peterhead - Peterhead United

A spokesperson for the team said: "Peterhead United are delighted to have done the final count from there seven games in seven days charity challenge for Clan Cancer Support.

"Words cannot describe how proud I am of the lads for wanting to take this on, they played there hearts out every game even through injury and tiredness.

"I think determination kicked in as they wanted to see it out for all seven days.

"We would also like to think all the teams involved, everyone who sponsored the players and also put money in the collection boxes each game.

"Without all your support the amount raised would never happen and its all for a great cause with so many families touched by cancer.
