Methlick Church was the venue this weekend for a special 10th anniversary celebration.

The Formartine Youth Project was established back in 2013 by the mid-formartine Churches which are composed of Udny and Pitmedden, Tarves, Methlick and Barthol Chapel to help meet the needs of young people in this rural area by creating safe places for them to meet, develop relationships, to be themselves, to believe in themselves and to feel they belong.

The Formartine Youth Project currently supports a range of projects including a weekly youth café in Pitmedden for those in P6 and older, and monthly youth club in the rural community of Barthol Chapel.

There is also regular chaplaincy involvement in the five local Primary Schools to support religious and moral education, religious observance, pastoral care and general wellbeing.

Regular inputs into other community groups includes the Boys Brigade and other local uniformed organisation's program of activities and Mainly Music; bringing new mothers and their babies together for fun and fellowship.

Working alongside Community Learning Development (CLD) Meldrum they also support youth activities in the local academy and the community.

To mark the 10th anniversary a picnic gathering was held, with project worker Caroline Brown doing the honours of cutting the celebratory cake.
