Two social care services and three frontline care workers from Aberdeenshire have been recognised as being amongst the best in the UK, after being collectively shortlisted for five respected accolades at the Great British Care Award regional finals.

The prestigious event will take place on Friday (November 11) at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park in Newcastle, where winners will be announced.

Albert Street in Fraserburgh and High Street in Turriff are supported living services that assist adults with learning disabilities to live independently in their own homes.

The teams have both been shortlisted for top awards on the evening, celebrating their commitment to ensuring the highest standards of care for the people they support.

Albert Street is in the running for the Putting People First Award, recognising the team’s success in building confidence and independence amongst the people they support.

Whilst the team at High Street will be competing for the Care Team accolade.

Meanwhile Peterhead-based support worker Ebony Mclean and care manager Claire Coutts have both been nominated for individual awards for their outstanding individual contributions, going above and beyond for the people they support.

The team’s regional manager, Karen Wood, has also been shortlisted for the Frontline Leader Award – recognising her exceptional showcase of leadership across care homes and supported living services in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire area.

The finalists are part of the award-winning social care charity, Community Integrated Care, one of the UK’s largest and most established care providers.

With a 34-year heritage, the social care provider now supports more than 3000 people who have learning disabilities, autism, mental health concerns and dementia across England and Scotland.

The charity has a significant presence across Scotland.

Managing director at Community Integrated Care Allison Cochrane said: “I feel enormously proud of the outstanding work that these teams do every single day.

"Having jointly been nominated for five respected accolades at the event, it is clear that they are delivering exceptional care to the people they support.”

“I’d particularly like to congratulate Karen, Claire and Ebony.

"To be shortlisted for their respective awards is a testament to their incredible work, going the extra mile for the people we support so that they can live the best lives possible.”
