An open meeting of Cairnie Memorial Hall is being held on Thursday, November 4 at 7.15pm to try to enlist more and new members to the committee which looks after the hall.

A spokeswoman said: "Help is urgently needed to ensure the future of the hall. Without support the hall may be facing closure. New faces and new ideas will be most welcome.

The Hall was built to commemorate the memory of the men who lost their lives during World War 1 and another plaque was added for those men who fell in the 1939 – 1945 war.

Land for the hall, opened in 1926, was gifted by the Duke of Richmond and Gordon and money to build it raised by donations.

A committee of trustees was formed and that group, including hall user group representatives continue to be responsible for all matters concerning the hall, including fund raising and promoting the facility which is available for hire for clubs, private functions and meetings.

The hall has been extensively upgraded in recent years as a result of successful funding applications and support from the community.

Anyone unable to attend but interested in supporting the hall can call Isabel Innes on 07871 759655.
