Cairnie man sentenced for having kunai knife and kitchen knife on Elgin High Street

A CAIRNIE man has been sentenced at Elgin Sheriff Court for having a ninja-style kunai knife and a kitchen knife in Elgin.
Tristan Church (19) was cautioned and detained by Police on March 24, 2022 on Elgin High Street, before being searched.
During that search, officers found two knives: one a kitchen knife and the other a ninja-style kunai knife.
Depute fiscal Victoria Silver said: "Police cautioned and detained the accused.
"During that search, they removed a kunai knife and a kitchen knife."
Stephen Carty, representing Church, said: "As far as Mr Church is concerned, he was still under 19 years old at the time of the offence.
"There is nothing analogous to this in his history.
"He has been very open to the fact that, by having knives, very serious matters can take place.
"The report before us is positive and the court may give consideration to a community payback order."
Sherrif David Sutherland sentenced Church to one year of supervision, with random drug testing and 80 hours of unpaid work, reduced from 120 hours due to his plea.
