2020 Business Awards celebrate the success of women

Chartered accountant Kimberley Oliver, who set up Xenith Financial Consulting during the oil and gas turndown, is leading the push to find Aberdeenshire women whose entrepreneurial talents have excelled in 2020 in this year’s Business Women Scotland Business Awards.

Last year Kimberley was presented with the Woman in Finance Award at the awards.

Her company allows businesses to access high-quality finance support on a fully flexible basis based around the principles of “simplicity, practicality and efficiency”.

Kimberley Oliver said:“It was great to be nominated and recognised to go into the shortlist but winning was so unexpected.

"It was really amazing to have all my efforts recognised."

"With the effect coronavirus has had on the world and the economy, it has never been a more important time to celebrate success."

Entries are now open for this year’s Business Women Scotland Business Awards.

Back for a sixth year, the awards that mark the achievements of the growing number of women-led businesses and recognise the entrepreneurial talents of women across Scotland.

Importantly, the awards also help to create more business role models to inspire the next generation of leaders.

This year awards will go to women running their own business and those in larger organisations.

Categories range from Start-up Business of the Year and Established Business of the Year to Rising Star of the Year and Inspirational Woman of the Year.

New categories in the 2020 awards to mark the unparalleled economic climate include Business Growth of the Year, Resilient Woman of the Year and Social Impact of the Year.

Founder of Business Women Scotland, Lynne Kennedy MBE, said; “It is more important than at any other time for women to enter the awards this year.

"These awards provide the perfect platform for women across all sectors in Scotland to showcase the vital contribution they are making to our business ecosystem,” .

“We need more women to step forward and help us close the gender gap in enterprise, with just 20 per cent of SMEs in Scotland currently being majority owned and led by women.”

The closing date for entries is September 14.

For the first time this year the Business Women Scotland Business Awards will be a virtual event on November 6, with networking as well as live and recorded talks, setup on a bespoke online platform.

Hosted by television presenter Rachel McTavish, ticket-holders can tune in from their office or living room.
