One of the north-east’s biggest vintage and classic vehicle shows, the Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally, takes place at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre this coming Sunday June 4 and has received a bumper entry for 2023.

Event organisers and North of Scotland representative of the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation is James Gray OBE.

He said: “Pulling together a show of this size is hard work but we are delighted with the entry for this year and we will have over 600 vehicles of all types on display.

"There are cars from 1913 to 1980, motorcycles from 1920 onwards, commercial vehicles from the 60’s, and over 100 tractors of all ages.

"Of special interest this year we have six rare Renault Avantimes coming, one all the way from Madrid, and on display for the first time we have a ‘Dukes of Hazard’ replica 1969 Dodge Charger.

"Every one of these vehicles is loved and cherished by their owners and they will be competing for over 60 prizes during the day.

“As well as the vehicles there is so much more for families to see and do. A favourite will be a special Farming of Yesteryear display giving an insight into rural life of bygone days when machinery was just coming to the fore.”

Motoring enthusiasts will know that 2023 is a significant year for a number of iconic vehicles – 100 years of MG, 75 years of Land Rover, 75 years of the Morris Minor and all will be well represented at Fraserburgh on Sunday.

James continued: “There’s something for everyone here with auto jumble stands, an indoor craft fair, kiddies’ entertainments, the spectacular 3SIXTY BMX cycle display team, live music from the Howling Gale band and of course plenty of refreshment stalls.”

One regular attraction missing this year is wood carver Peter Bowsher and his son Sam, who will be in Canada taking part in the World Woodcarving Championships. Sorry to miss one of his favourite days Peter has created a very special wood carving for the event and donated it to be raffled during the show in aid of the Neonatal Unit at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

The wood carving is up for auction at the event.

On Sunday morning some of the entrants take a tour around the Buchan countryside before arriving at the showground, which then opens to the public at 12.30pm with prize giving at 4.30pm.

Adult entry £8, Concession and children five-16yrs £6 with under 5’s free.
