A BUCKIE fitness instructor mum and daughter duo are keeping life upbeat by offering free online workouts.

Natalie Wright has spent the last six years building up Blitz Fitness, based at Buckie's Methodist Church, with the objective to help people feel at their best in body and mind.

Forced into an online switch by measures to slow the spread of coronavirus, Natalie, along with 11-year-old daughter Nyah, felt moved to do what she could to keep spirits up and bodies in shape after two live online fitness sessions last week attracted thousands of views.

Natalie said: "When COVID-19 closed the door my 11-year-old daughter, Nyah, and I decided that we’ve got to keep going and must try to help as many people as we can to feel good within and to help people de-stress from this current situation.

"So we set off with a determined mind and popped ourselves online for free – a very scary thought as we’ve never done this before but we pushed our nerves to one side and focused on why we’re doing this."

Natalie says her up-tempo classes are designed to kick-start passion and motivation for training, push through barriers and build inner confidence.

Last week the duo performed two live hourly sessions on Natalie's Blitz Fitness Facebook page.

She said: "Our first live session was last Monday and we had over 1400 views. We were delighted to see such a response. On our second live performance we received 2400 views.

"With us both buzzing with these numbers we thought 'let’s finish this week off with a live disco on Saturday night'. We were dancing and singing with hairbrushes as pretend microphones – and received over 2600 views."

The pair encouraged cooped-up viewers to get their children and pets on their feet for the online disco.

Natalie hopes to build on this momentum with live 40-minute sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 10am.

All Blitz Fitness live videos and extra workouts are available for free on YouTube and its Facebook page.

Natalie added: "I’m very proud of Nyah. There was no doubt in her mind that she wanted to help people. Her commitment to this has been outstanding.

"We will continue to help motivate people through this very difficult time. We can all help each other be the very best that we can be."
