Aberdeenshire Council's Waste and Recycling team have planned some more community events for those who prefer to learn about the changes to kerbside bin collections in person for the last areas in the north-east to see the change to the three week system.

Events take place on -

▪ March 5: Buchan House — 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

▪ April 23: Ellon Library — 3pm to 6pm.

▪ April 24: Balmedie Library — 4.30pm to 6pm.

▪ April 25: Newmachar Library — 4pm – 6pm.

▪ April 30: Oldmeldrum Library — 3pm to 6pm.

Local community groups organising their own events can request a community waste officer to attend and further inform about the change by contacting waste@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

Information about the bin collections change is also online at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/bincollectionschange where answers to frequently asked questions can also be found.

Once the change happens in your area, one of three bins will be collected each week on a new three-weekly cycle:

▪ The blue-lid recycling bin becomes for paper, card, and cardboard only;

▪ A new orange-lid recycling bin is for metal tins, cans, aerosols and foil, food and drink cartons, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays; and

▪ The black refuse bin remains for non-recyclable waste only.

There are no changes to food and battery collections, which are still collected each week.

If you require a food waste caddy, these can be obtained from your local household recycling centre.
