Seven local groups are to receive a share of council funding to help with their ongoing projects.

Applications were made to the Marr area committee budget large grant scheme.

They were all considered and unanimously approved by the Marr area committee this week.

Banchory Paths will get £5000 to put towards its Glen O’Dee Hospital path project.

The group’s volunteers work to create and maintain footpaths in and around Banchory for residents and visitors.

Over the years, they have helped to mend the paths on Scolty Hill and also helped to develop the Banchory Circular Path.

Gordon Rural Action will get £4877 to expand the Huntly Advice and Support Hub.

The Gordon Street hub is a multi-agency project that offers vital help and support to users.

It works closely with partners including Barnardo’s and North Aberdeenshire Food Bank.

St Margaret’s Trust Braemar will receive £5000 to upgrade the venue’s amenity block.

Huntly Development Trust will also get £5000 to assist with fitting a co-working facility at its base, located at No. 30 The Square.

A further £5000 will be awarded to Play for All Banchory to help the group buy and install accessible play equipment at Bellfield Park.

Meanwhile, Logie Coldstone Trust will be given £5000 to install solar panels and battery storage facilities at the hall.

Finally, Glass Community Association will get £4796 to carry out improvement works at Glass Hall.

Councillor Eileen Durno praised all of the projects, saying they were “really worthy” of funding support.

While committee chairman Robbie Withey said they were all “very good” and suggested members approve all seven applications.

And with a nod and thumbs up from councillor Gwyneth Petrie, all of the funding applications were granted.
