Body of woman discovered in Moray

A body has been found in the early hours of this morning in woodland about six miles south-west of Fochabers.

The discovery was made during a search to trace Nicole Mitchell who had been reported missing.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but Police Scotland state that the 26-year-old's family have been informed.

She had last been seen on Friday evening in Mulben near Keith.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.15am on Monday, February 26, the body of a woman was discovered within Teindland Woods, south of Altonside.

"Formal identification is yet to take place, but the family of missing woman Nicole Mitchell are aware.

"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
