Police Scotland have stated that the body of a man has been found in Buckie.

The force says that the sad discovery was made at about 10.15am in Douglas Crescent.

A spokesperson added: "Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of missing man Robert Smith has been made aware.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

The police launched a public appeal yesterday for help in finding Mr Smith, after the 46-year-old was reported missing.
