Directly following their debut album ‘Late Night Calls’, the band have been busy working towards its successor in the shape of a new EP 'Love, Hate & Forgiveness’ which is confirmed for release on October 21.

While described by Blue Violet as “a continuation of themes, both sonically and lyrically, that we explored on our debut album”, the songs of the ‘Love, Hate & Forgiveness’ EP mark a distinctly different writing chapter for the duo.

Their upcoming material is a glimpse of how the pair spent the inescapable lockdown of 2020.

“For all of the chaos and hardships that Covid brought to the world it also provide ample time for people to be creative," said singer Sarah Gotley.

“So although we only released our debut album in April this year we wanted to bring out some of the music that we'd been working on in that time."

Featured single 'Favourite Jeans' is a strung-out alternative/acoustic ballad.

“It’s about having the courage to pick yourself up after a hard time and the little things you do to find happiness again," Sarah said.

With plans already afoot to take their new material out on the road, Blue Violet will be hooking-up with previous touring pals Tide Lines for a coast to coast tour of Scotland from September 15 to October 15.

Sarah added: “We toured with Tide Lines last winter and it's really nice of them to have us along again.

"We're opening up for them acoustically as a duo and it felt like a cool idea to explore that side of things in the studio by basing a couple of recordings around the acoustic guitar rather than do another full band scale production."

Blue Violet and Tide Lines will come to Inverurie Town Hall on October 13.
