Two sites near Turriff that had highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 confirmed in November have now been officially downgraded from 3 km Protection Zones (PZ) and 10 km Surveillance Zones (SZ).

Following completion of preliminary cleansing and disinfection, and mandatory surveillance requirements, Scottish Ministers declared the end of the Protection Zones on Thursday, January 19 at Ashogle Farm and Muirden Farm.

A third site also near Turriff was downgraded mid-December following the same mandatory requirements.
