At around midnight on Sunday, bins outside Buckie Furniture, Flooring and Mobility Store – on Blairdaff Street – were burned to the ground.

Zafar Ali, who owns the store, was phoned by police just after the fire went up.

"I had to come out and move my van so the fire brigade could get in," Mr Ali explained.

"They managed to keep the fire to just the bins – but the heat coming off them was amazing.

"It's a good job the telegraph pole nearby didn't go up because a lot of businesses would have lost their Wi-Fi."

Mr Ali thanked Moray Council, who have said they will clean the burned-out bins away.

A Police spokesperson confirmed they attended the scene.

"Around 11.30pm on Sunday, August 21, officers attended a report of a fire on Blairdaff Street, Buckie.

"There is no further police involvement at this time.”
