His daughter Frances Bruce explained: "This is a photo of my dad with his walking stick which he has had for 50+ years.

"It was made/carved for him by a friend.

"Unfortunately he has lost it when walking up and around Bennachie at the weekend.

"He had laid it down and forgot to pick it up in the vicinity of the Back O'Bennachie car park but when he went back for it he couldn't find it.

"He went back up again but still couldn't find it."

Having already shared the message across contacts on social media, the hunt has widened to the wider community including Grampian Online and the Bailies of Bennachie.

Frances continued: "An absolute huge thank you to each and everyone one of you who have shared my post of the search for dad's stick.

"Unfortunately we still have not found it but are living in the hope that someone has picked it up and will kindly get in touch to reunite dad with the stick."
