Following the death of Robbie Shepherd earlier this week, BBC Radio Scotland will air two special programmes in his memory.

The Story of Dr Robbie Shepherd MBE - BBC Radio Scotland, Saturday August 5, 7.30pm.

In light of the very sad news of Robbie Shepherd’s passing, Take the Floor brings you his life story, told by the people who knew him best.

Using archive material from Reel Blend of Robbie’s 70th Birthday broadcast, we hear from his family, friends and colleagues, about how he became the face of Scottish Dance and Traditional Music for over 30 years.

A Tribute to Dr Robbie Shepherd MBE - BBC Radio Scotland, Saturday August 12, 7pm.

Take the Floor pays tribute to the one and only Dr Robbie Shepherd MBE. We hear from some of the many people who he inspired over his long and illustrious career - from friends and colleagues, to some of Scotland's finest traditional musicians.

Featuring some of his favourite music, and with stories of his dedication, humour and spirit, we shed a light on what a huge impact he has had on Scottish music and culture.
