An Aberchirder resident has been made an MBE in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Honours in recognition of all her community work.

Patricia Seligman has been involved in numerous good causes over the years, including Friends of Duff House and Deveron Music.

In addition, she's helped run Banff Castle community centre and has been involved with Trinity and Alvah Church in Banff as well as Marnoch New Church in Aberchirder.

Talking about her award, Patricia said: "I'm just overwhelmed. I don't think it's really sunk in, but friends and family have been phoning to congratulate me.

"I think I have been very fortunate to be involved in lots of worthwhile causes. I've met the most marvellous people and learned so much from everyone."

Patricia and her husband Nigel, who was an accountant, moved up to the area 48 years ago from Edinburgh.

For the past three decades the couple have lived on a farm in Aberchirder.

Patricia became a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire in 2002, before being promoted to Vice Lord-Lieutenant in 2019.

Yesterday the role took her to Fordyce where the primary school children were having a jubilee picnic.

Today Patricia will be at a street party in Cornhill, while tomorrow takes her to a soup and sweet in Portessie, and Sunday sees her at Aberchirder's big picnic.
