The Banff Springs Hotel and its events manager Sarah Sinclair have been named as finalists in two prestigious wedding industry awards.

The hotel has been nominated in the venue of the year category and Sarah is a finalist in coordinator of the year in The Top Tier Awards.

They are also finalists in the same categories in the Scottish Wedding Awards.

Sarah said: "I am absolutely delighted and honoured that the team's hard work has been recognised and to be shortlisted amongst such reputable names in the industry."

The Top Tier Awards are designed to showcase all that is best within the wedding industry in the north of Scotland.

The event will take place on Sunday, February 25 with a black tie gala dinner at The Sandman Signature Hotel in Aberdeen.

There will be 20 category awards presented on the night including top wedding venue, photographer, make-up artist, dress supplier, hairdresser, prop supplier, entertainers and venue décor.

Only brides and grooms who married in the north of Scotland throughout 2023 are qualified to vote.

They are not asked to judge each supplier, only who they considered to be the top three they used on the day.

They are asked to consider who gave them the best level of service from the time of booking to the wedding day itself and who were always approachable and easy to work with.

The voting closed recently and votes are currently being verified and collated prior to the winners being announced at the dinner.

Only finalists and their guests are eligible to attend and the success of the awards has meant the event is heading towards its third successive sell out.

As an incentive to the brides and grooms themselves everyone who voted will be entered into a free prize draw with the winners receiving a £500 holiday voucher.

The awards are hosted and sponsored by Aberdeen-based entertainment and events provider Elite Promotions.

John Anderson a partner with Elite said: “Having a wedding awards event specific to the north of Scotland has been discussed for many years but we ran the first one in 2017 and even with the disruption of Covid the awards have grown in both popularity and numbers year on year.

"This year we received in excess of 3000 votes and we were particularly delighted with the number of suppliers and venues who received votes this year for the first time.

"A wedding can have up to 30 suppliers but our format of asking only for their top three is proving to be very popular.

"This is a unique event as it is the only social event that you will find more than 100 north of Scotland wedding suppliers in the same room at the same time. We are looking forward to another fantastic night.”

Meanwhile, the Scottish Wedding Awards aim to celebrate the elite wedding specialists and businesses that continuously create magical moments that turn into lasting memories.

They aim to recognise and reward those within the wedding industry that work towards making the big day as perfect as possible, including the caterers that provide delicious reception meals, decorators that take care of the wedding venues and add the glam in the room or florists that know how to make any wedding flourish.

The Banff Springs Hotel and Sarah will find out if they will be crowned winners and take the trophies home at an elegant ceremony that will take place on Wednesday, March 6 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow.

A spokesperson for the 11th Scottish Wedding Awards 2024 said: “We’re glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the continued development of the wedding industry.

"The competition is tough this year but it is time to acknowledge everyone who has shown dedication and professionalism in their workplace; two key features that make individuals and businesses stand out from the rest.

"We congratulate all the finalists for their remarkable achievements.”
