Members of Banff Probus Club held their last meeting of the year in the Banff Springs Hotel.

They were greeted with a glass of hot mulled wine before the chairman introduced the guest speaker Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Andrew Simpson.

He talked of the work and duties he undertakes including sending cards and letters of congratulation to individuals, to visiting elderly people on special birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

He told of the duties involved as the King's representative in the county presenting awards to successful businesses and charity organisations which are doing exceptional work in the community.

Included in this was his involvement during the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II in Banffshire, at Balmoral and at Westminster.

This was illustrated by various projected photos of these events and locations.

Following this very interesting and informative talk and question time the meeting ended with an enjoyable Christmas lunch.
