Banff pharmacy worker earns national award for dedication to patients

A BANFF pharmacy worker's dedication has been recognised with a UK award.

Jenna Mckenzie, a trainee dispensing assistant from Strachan Pharmacy, was highly commended in the Rising Star category when the eighth annual Recognition of Excellence (RoE) Awards were announced last week.

The awards are presented to healthcare workers for outstanding achievements in the world of community pharmacy.

The judges praised Jenna for going above and beyond her role to support patients – even delivering medicines in her own time.

Jenna was nominated by Bronwyn Heatherwick, a dispensing assistant at the pharmacy.

Bronwyn said: "I do not think Jenna realises how much she is appreciated by us all in the pharmacy.

"Overall, she is an amazing person who lifts up all the people around her, a joy to work with and a reassuring presence in the dispensary."

The finalists were treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to central London for a glamorous champagne drinks reception and awards ceremony.

Helena Beer, host and editor of UK pharmacy magazine Training Matters, which runs the awards, said: "Our finalists represent the very best of community pharmacy.

"I’m thrilled to be able to reward these individuals for their hard work, dedication and passion for helping the people in their communities live better and healthier lives."
