A Banff couple have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Frances and Ian Raymond, of Victoria Gardens, marked the milestone with a celebratory family meal.

It was an opportunity to look back on their 60 years together, which saw them both work at the former Ladysbridge Hospital for many years.

Frances and Ian Raymond have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Frances (78) whose maiden name was Connon, said: "We met at a dance at the former Drill Hall at Banff's Old Market Place. There were a lot of dances held there.

"We got engaged in April 1962 and then married in September, as we were moving down to Corby as Ian got a job down there."

Frances is originally from Macduff, while Ian (82) was born and bred in Banff.

The couple were married in Macduff Parish Church and had their reception at the town's Knowes Hotel.

Shortly after they made the move down to the English town as Ian found employment with the Stewarts and Lloyds steelworks.

They lived down there for a year-and-a-half before moving back to the local area.

The couple settled in Banff on their return and Ian worked for a short time as a baker before moving to Ladysbridge Hospital where he worked as a nurse right up to his retirement in 1993.

Frances held various office jobs and even had a spell at the former Banff Picture House, before also moving to the hospital where she stayed until her retirement in 1995.

They have both been involved with community groups over the years including Age Concern and Enable Club.

The couple have two daughters – Elaine and Jacqueline – four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

They celebrated the anniversary with a family meal at the Fife Lodge Hotel.
