Banff church provides support to people over festive period

Banff's River Church provided support to people in the community over the festive period.

It hosted a Boxing Day meal which was attended by more than 50 people and over 20 volunteers helped out.

Pastor Robert McArthur said: "The volunteers do a remarkable job to facilitate this.

"Attendees were treated to steak pie and trimmings, sweets, hot and cold refreshments, light entertainment and a small gift to take home.

"We had people come along of various ages including families.

"The event is a good way to support those on their own at Christmas.

"People are feeling the struggle more than ever and its nice to know during the pressures of Christmas that they can come to us on boxing day.

"It's good to give something back to the community and along with other events such as the food bank, the church want to help people feel supported, and feel less isolated especially at times when it is hard."

Local businesses that donated to the meal included Banff Springs Hotel, Cherry Tree, Fife Lodge Hotel, Portsoy Ice Cream, Premier Whitehills, Seafield Arms Whitehills, Spotty Bag Shop and Strachan Pharmacy.
