Sunday will feature a parade of primary school pupils from Banff Bridge at midday and then a Picnic in the Park event in the grounds of Duff House from 1pm to 4pm and will include music from Banff Primary and Macduff Primary students; Beyond Boyndie Trio; Banff Castle Pipe Band; Mary Aiken dancers; Deveron Singers; harpist Irene Watt; Audrey Watt dancers and the Banff Academy Traditional Band.

People should bring their picnics and camping chairs with them for the afternoon.

Banff Preservation and Heritage Society has also organised a display in Duff House which honours The Queen.

Banff River Church lead pastor Rob McArthur, who has helped organise the programme of events along with Macduff Parish Church's Rev Hugh O'Brien; said: "The Queen has served the country for 70 years and been faithful in it. The aim is to honour this.

"She sees it as a God given role that has been bestowed to her and she takes it very seriously.

"I really hope that people come and they enjoy everything over the course of the long weekend.

"We haven't really done community events like these since Covid started, so it's a great chance for people to meet together and celebrate the occasion."
