Banff and Buchan community projects benefit from funding

Four north-east groups and their ongoing projects are set to benefit from a share of council cash.

Groups in the Banff and Buchan area applied to the area initiative fund in a bid to get extra financial support.

The five applications were considered and unanimously approved by the Banff and Buchan area committee on Tuesday.

Broch Skate Club will get £1300 to spend on buying a defibrillator, cabinet and responder kit.

Fraserburgh Sea Cadets will receive £5000 to buy and fit new vinyl and carpets at their headquarters on Commerce Street.

New Aberdour Community Council will get £363.94 to buy materials to make four flower planters to be installed around the village.

Meanwhile, Portsoy and District Community Council submitted two separate applications for funding.

The first will see the group get £1575.20 to buy a defibrillator, while a second award of £1246.93 will go towards a community notice board.

Other local groups in the area are being encouraged to contact the local authority for help with their projects.

Applications will be welcomed until Sunday, August 20.
