CHILDREN across the north-east of Scotland are set to be treated to a variety of themed rhyming sessions run by two well-known Doric wordsmiths.

In April, May and June, poet Sheena Blackhall and storyteller Jackie Ross are set to run 'Bairns' Rhyme Time' sessions around Aberdeenshire.

The duo will share their favourite songs and stories in Doric with youngsters. Whether you are a native speaker or want to learn the local language, the event is perfect for pre-schoolers.

The event is free, but make sure to book a place on the ‘Live Life Aberdeenshire’ website to avoid disappointment (www.livelifeaberdeenshire.org.uk and search up the library of your choice).

These events are kindly sponsored by the Doric Board. There will be opportunities to purchase the children’s books produced by Doric Books, which include similar themes to these sessions.

The first session is at 1030am at Ballater Library on April 18. Visits will also be made to Means Library (April 22); Kemnay Library (April 24); Peterhead Library (May 4); Westhill Library (May 10) and Rosehearty Library (June 20).
