An Inverurie fundraiser is getting the buntin’ out for a Craiglang-themed night in the town next weekend with a special guest.

Inverurie Bowling Club will transform into the Clansman on Saturday, March 23 as members of the community don their best Craiglang clobber.

In keeping with the theme of the night there will be pie and beans and a choice of empire biscuit or a snowball on entry for every Jack, Victor, Winston, Tam or Isa.

In addition, there will also be a special guest at the bowling club as Gavin Mitchell, who played Boabby the Barman in the classic Scottish sitcom, will be in attendance on the night.

The fundraiser, which also includes a disco, auction and raffle, will benefit Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, the country’s largest health charity.

Organiser Hazel Youngson said: “I have personal experience of stroke at a young age and the CHSS nurse I saw at the time really helped me to get my head around what had happened and what the next steps were for me.

“I support CHSS where I can and after a flippant conversation with my cousin about how much fun a Still Game costume party would be, I decided to make it happen, to give something back to CHSS, a very worthy beneficiary.

“I also want to use the night to raise awareness of the symptoms of stroke and what to do if you see those symptoms in anyone around you.”

Anne Magarin, Community, Events and Corporate Fundraiser for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland said: “We love to see people come up with imaginative ways to raise money for CHSS.

“Everyone in Inverurie needs to do their best Isa impression and let as many people know about this event happening!

“We’re looking forward to seeing as many Jack, Victor, Winston, Isa and Tams there on the night!

“The funds raised will help us to support the 1 in 5 people across the country who are living with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live their lives to the full.”
