Archie Foundation charity ball will celebrate 50 years of music

From the glamour of the 70s disco era to today’s newest TikTok crazes, The Archie Foundation will pay tribute to 50 years of music at its sparkling 2024 Glitter Ball.
Guests will be taken back through the decades for a night of dancing at the Chester Hotel on September 14, with all proceeds going directly to help support local children and their families.
Last year’s ball, held in August, raised £29,000 for Archie.
Tables of 10 are on sale now and attendees will be encouraged to dress up and be treated to a VIP experience with a red-carpet entrance with paparazzi, glitter bar and a 360-photo booth to capture the highlights of the night.
There will also be a raffle, silent auction and live auction held on the night.
Having supported Archie for the last three years, engineering and fabrication firm TEXO is the lead sponsor for the Glitter Ball, with Dyce Carriers sponsoring the raffle and CMD Stone supporting the silent auction.
The charity has other sponsorship opportunities available.
Paula Cormack, chief executive of The Archie Foundation, said: “We are so excited to announce the theme of this year’s ball, where we’ll be paying tribute to music from the 1970s onwards.
“As well as the singing and dancing, the most important thing for us is to raise money to allow us to continue to ensure Archie is here for children and their families when they need us most.
"We’re so grateful to TEXO, Dyce Carriers and CMD Stone for the continued support and would love to talk to other organisations about how they can get involved.
“Facilities such as The Archie Family Centre at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital allow parents to stay with their children when they are unwell and need mum or dad there.
"We also provide vital bereavement services for both children who have lost a loved one and families who have sadly lost a child, and much-needed financial support at a time when families have enough to think about.”
This year’s organising committee includes patron and illustrator Johanna Basford, trustees Holly Milne and Irene Anderson, local farmer and businesswoman Fi Gammie, Rebecca Cheyne from the Wood Foundation and volunteer Lynne Brooks.
The other committee member is parent Angela Tosh, whose husband Davie climbed to Everest base camp to raise money for Archie as a thank you for the support their daughter Georgie has received from the charity.
It is hoped the amazing auction prizes will significantly boost the total raised at Aberdeen’s Chester Hotel.
The Archie Foundation exists to transform experiences and outcomes in healthcare and bereavement for babies, children and families across north Scotland, including Aberdeen, Elgin, Inverness and Dundee.
The charity’s vision is that all children in the region will have equal access to world-class healthcare and bereavement support, delivered in a child-appropriate environment and manner.
